The Concession
Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her concession speech at her alma mater Howard University on Wednesday — leaving conservatives both relieved and surprised. She admitted defeat on the stage, though she hardly needed to do that considering the results of the election. Her speech stood in stark contrast to what happened four years ago when President Joe Biden won the election, though Harris certainly took some underhanded shots at Trump and Republicans.
While Harris was giving her speech, her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, turned on the waterworks. Seems as if he — and many other in attendance — were shocked that Americans turned away such a radical agenda.
The Tears of Defeat
As Harris was speaking, cameras caught Walz not being able to control his emotions. He couldn’t keep it together for a simple concession speech. It was like he could see his chances at moving the country far to the left had literally disappeared in front of him.
“A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results,” Harris said in her concession speech. “That principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny, and anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it.”
A Triumphant Return for Trump
While all this was going on, Donald Trump was celebrating his victory, which sent shockwaves through the political establishment. In addition to securing all seven swing states, Trump captured the popular vote — something a Republican president hasn’t done in years.
Turns out that Americans really don’t want rampant inflation, open borders and to see their constitutional rights eroded.
The Road Ahead
Now that Trump is back in the White House, Republicans have secured Senate control and look like they might do so in the House, too, the country could soon see a return to policies that prioritize the interests of Americans.
The American people have clearly spoken, rejecting the radical agenda that the left has been trying to shove down everyone’s throats. Sorry, Tim Walz, if that hurts your feelings.
